How much does a baby cost
If you are a guy like me, you want to know the financial cost of having a baby. This is the first thing I thought about when my wife told me she was pregnant.
Before you ask, yes of course I was also happy to know we are having a kid, but my brain immediately went into “practical” mode….this is what happens to most guys.
Let alone how much things cost, I didn’t know the first thing about what I needed to buy in order to be ready for a little baby to come and live with us….it was a bit of a change from the “good ol days” of living with “the boys”.
I wanted to make sure I have everything I needed for my son to be happy and comfortable. But was also wary of all the unnecessary crap that baby companies try to sell you on as “essential” for the baby.
The hard part with this is that as a first time parent, I had no idea what was really necessary and what wasn’t. I also didn’t know what I should pay top dollar for, and what was just being sold at a markup for having the word “baby” in front of it (spoiler alert, there is no difference between a “baby” thermometer and a normal thermometer).
So, to make life easier for you, I have listed EACH ITEM with the PRICES of each item on my YouTube video here
In totality, the INITAL outlay for a baby will range from $4,000 to $15,000 depending on your choices.
My wife and I went with an “average” approach when buying things (meaning we didn’t go high end, but also didn’t too cheap) and had spent ~$6,000.
